Meditation
Speak with a Volunteer
Taking a break to meditate every day can significantly reduce the amount of stress you experience. Numerous studies have established the therapeutic benefits of meditation. Still, learning an appropriate meditation technique can seem somewhat daunting at first. It can be challenging for some individuals just starting out to quiet their mind and focus.

Timothy McCarthy, PhD, is a licensed psychologist who has been meditating for almost 40 years. You can find Dr. McCarthy on our I Am Integrative Blog, chatting with IBD patients about this therapy. Or if you’d like, you can request a personal telephone call with him. Just fill out the form on the “Schedule a Free Call With Us” page and specify in the box provided that you’d like to discuss meditation with Tim. We’ll email you back with times he is available to chat.
Dr. McCarthy is the President of Executive Performance Consultants, a consulting firm that uses innovative and proprietary coaching tools to drive sustained business performance improvementsfor corporate clients. He also maintains a clinical psychology practice and uses meditation as a tool for some of his patients. Dr. McCarthy has been a guest lecturer at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Business, where he has spoken on the topic of developing strong executives. He holds a Bachelors in Psychology from Southern Illinois University and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Toledo.
Although Dr. McCarthy uses meditation as a tool for his patients in his clinical psychology practice, the guidance he provides to Food Rx callers and on the I Am Integrative blog is for informational purposes only. Participating in a call with Dr. McCarthy, or writing to him on the blog, does not establish a formal doctor/patient relationship.
